What the video cannot show clearly

A recording can show clicks, but it cannot confirm that your server package, backup schema, DSN names and SQL version match the presenter’s files. Before copying a setting, locate the same value in your own package.

After SQL installation, verify the service and login before continuing. After database restore, inspect the databases. After ODBC creation, run the connection test. This turns one long video into several independently verified milestones.

Translate old menus, not old security assumptions

Modern SQL and Windows interfaces may look different from the recording. Follow the purpose of the step—such as enabling the required authentication method—rather than forcing the exact old software onto an exposed machine.

Keep your own values visible

Write your instance, database and DSN names beside the video checklist. Do not copy the presenter’s machine name, password or IP. The components must agree with your environment, not the recording.
